SMS Opt-In and Proof of Consent Policy

1. Purpose
This policy explains how Percentrade obtains, verifies, and records consent for SMS communications used exclusively for one-time password (OTP) verification and essential account security notifications.
2. Opt-In and Consent Flow
- Clear Disclosure: Before providing a phone number, users see a notice that SMS is used for OTP verification and essential account security only.
- Voluntary Opt-In: Users provide their phone number and request an OTP to complete verification.
- Double Opt-In (Verification): Users confirm ownership by entering the OTP sent to the provided number.
- No Marketing SMS: We do not send promotional or marketing SMS without separate, explicit consent.
3. Proof of Consent Collected
To document consent and verification, we may securely record the following:
- Phone number (hashed or tokenized where feasible)
- Consent event type (OTP requested, OTP verified, STOP/HELP keywords)
- Timestamps for each consent event
- IP address and user agent associated with consent actions
- Delivery status from SMS provider (sent, delivered)
- Masked OTP event logs (we do not store plaintext OTP codes)
These records are retained for compliance, security, and fraud prevention.
4. Message Frequency and Rates
- Frequency: Messages are sent only when you initiate an OTP request or for essential security events (e.g., suspicious login).
- Rates: Message and data rates may apply per your mobile plan. Charges are billed by your carrier, not Percentrade.
5. Keywords and Opt-Out
- STOP: Reply STOP to end SMS messages from us to your number. We will confirm your opt-out.
- HELP: Reply HELP for assistance or contact support@percentrade.com.
- Re-Opt-In: If you previously opted out, you can re-verify your number by initiating a new OTP request in your account settings.
6. Data Use and Privacy
We use your phone number solely for identity verification and account security. For details on collection, use, sharing, and security practices, see our Privacy Policy.
7. Retention
Phone number and consent event logs are retained only as long as necessary for security, fraud prevention, compliance, and audit purposes, in line with our data retention schedules.
8. Eligibility
SMS verification is available where supported by carriers. You must be the authorized owner of the phone number provided.
9. Your Rights
You can opt out of non-essential SMS at any time using the STOP keyword, and you can request changes or deletion of your phone number by contacting support@percentrade.com. Other rights may apply depending on your jurisdiction (see Privacy Policy).

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
